Our story begins with a special encounter. We met a young man three weeks after arriving in Las Vegas, NV from Los Angeles, California. He was walking past the office and stopped by, drawn to the location and what we offered.

He needed support for himself since he was taking on the added responsibilities of his family, which consisted of an ailing senior citizen and three disabled adults. This is a great burden for anyone to take upon themselves 365 days a year, and it highlighted the critical need for mental health care and case management support in our community.

You might be wondering why this story matters. This encounter illustrates what we do and demonstrates that everyone can benefit from professional support during challenging times.

Legacy Counseling and Workforce Connections (LCWC) is a mental health care agency serving the Las Vegas, NV area. We’re dedicated to supporting our clients through education, treatment, and comprehensive care so that they may thrive in the community.

Legacy Counseling Services

LCWC is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care that promotes healthy functioning and wellbeing. We offer individual therapy, family counseling, substance abuse treatment, group therapy, case management, psychiatry, and biofeedback services tailored to each client’s unique needs.

Now, back to our story. This young man took on the responsibility of caring for his family and being their caretaker because there was no one else. He felt there was no place to turn to for help in his hour of need. Please understand he has no regrets for his actions. He states, “I am my brother’s keeper.”

At times we forget about the people who provide constant support, or we assume that a person can function at a normal level without extending a helping hand. We adhere to stereotypes of superheroes when we often overlook our everyday heroes. Not every hero wears a cape—everyone at some point needs help, whether through individual therapy, family counseling, or other mental health services.

We Are Not Superheroes

There is no one out there who is completely secure in their wellbeing. We often tell ourselves we’re okay and that we can handle whatever may come our way. The question is: can you? Should you? The answer is that seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness. As with the young man in our story, without proper support and resources to care for oneself, the burden can become overwhelming.

In order to assist him, we provided individual therapy, biofeedback, case management, and psychiatry for his wellbeing—just to name a few services. Yes, it may seem comprehensive, but we wanted to ensure we addressed all areas of his health and wellbeing through coordinated mental health care.

We can proudly say that he is in a better state of being than he was before we met him. He has been able to make use of the resources we supplied him with and was able to take vacations, knowing his family was secure.

Getting Your Life Back On Track

He has been able to balance out his life, and theirs, in a way where everyone could feel safe and supported. To help manage stress, anxiety, and other challenges, he has been able to integrate what he learned from our group therapy sessions and individual counseling into his everyday life with his family.

Sometimes a little help can go a long way. Never feel that you’re alone. Never feel no one cares for you. Know there is a place for everyone, with someone ready and willing to help you.

Should you need support, Legacy Counseling and Workforce Connections is available to serve clients in Las Vegas, NV and surrounding areas. If we cannot directly assist you, we will connect you with appropriate resources and providers who can.
